Crocheting is a skill that came from Europe to Africa with the earliest pioneers and settlers. Many women in South Africa know how to crochet.
Crocheting with WIRE?
Yes. About ten years ago,one of my sons went through a destructive stage and were demolishing some old piece of equipment, when he found a altenater with very fine copper wire inside. I was facinated with the pliability of the wire and started thinking how I could incorporate it in one of our products. Two years later, most of our products were made of copper wire. We have combined copper wire with beads, buttons and seeds. We have also worked with at least 4 different sizes of wire, from 0.50mm, 0.315mm, 0.400mm and 0,6mm.
Currently, uSisi Designs still produce a variety of Crocheted Handbags, Jewelry and Homeware articles.
